About Us

ATTILA SZABÓ

CANOE ACADEMY

The association was founded in 2017. The story is adventurous, since dr. Attila Rausz-Szabó is known as “Torony” (Tower) among canoeists, his loyality to Budapest Honvéd famous far and wide.

DUE TO THE DOWNSIZING WHICH HAPPENED TO CANOE SPORTS, THE MASTER COACH HAS BECOME INDEPENDENT. HE DECIDED THAT IN THE FUTURE HE WILL WORK WITH PEOPLE OF JUNIOR AGE, AND THE SZABÓ ATTILA KENU ACADEMY TRAINES CHAMPIONS OF THE KAYAK-CANOE SPORT FROMED HIS OWN ASSOCIATION.

Life developed in a way that the Master trainer moved to Ráckeve, after which, he started working in his private association at the encouraging of the president of the Hungarian Kayak- Canoe Association.

The president of the association is Dr. Margit Borkovits, who wants to carry on her father’s legacy.
From 1956 the Ady Endre High School had a kayak- canoe association, and all students had the opportunity to participate in the kayak canoe sessions. The professional work was greatly helped by the fact, that the national team trained here until the 1960 Olympics, and that the Hungarian Championship was also held in Ráckeve until 1974.
With the retirement of Teacher Mr. Borkovits, the teaching of water sports in the high school was interrupted. The association, which operated at the high school location he created, did not want to cooperate, so a new location had to be created.
The property, which the Master bought, was abandoned for 20 years and was waiting for the little competitors in a hopeless state. However, fortunately, the children were also enthusiastic and the joyfull common work soon forged a cohesive community. There is now a nice gymnasium, gym, pier and boat house available.

In the future, we will continue the work with the Árpád Fejedelem Elementary School in Ráckeve with sports school system, so our camp also welcomes young people who want to go kayaking and canoeing in physical education classes. From this year, work also started in Dragon Boat and SUP sports. The Talent Management Department was established, which aimed to support competitors entering the international arena.

An opportunity to move forward, to revive the interdependence of physical education and professional sports, and to train world-class athletes with the work of qualified physical educators and master coaches.

OUR MISSION

The operation and financing of elite sports is the responsibility of society. We believe that in the current difficult economic situation, elite athletes can be role models in that even a small country (in our case, a small town) can show great results. They win rank for the country and our city, so every citizen can feel proud.

The main question that arises is how we can lead talented young people to a successful racing career, as well as how we can integrate the competitors into the selected teams. It is important to educate and retain the juniors (younger ages) and to operate the Life Path Program. Also important is the organization of cooperation between sports associations and schools.

The material of the extra 2 hours of physical education in canoe can offer a wider population the opportunity to learn about association life.

Our association is staffed by dedicated and qualified teachers and coaches who use their expertise to spot and highlight talents and motivate them to become elite athletes.
Our specialists do not only impart knowledge, but also take on the role of shaping people and worldviews, which prepares the life path of an elite athlete.
( Barabas, 2010).

We want to work in search of new opportunities based on the currently prepared youth training concept by supporting talent nurturing and cutting-edge youth training programs. We intend to achieve this by organizing and publishing scientific measurements and also keeping in mind the promotion of teachers’ work.

Our activity is based on one another, with a unified approach, and long-term planned work, in which each participant has a role and the appropriate level of time for their qualification.

SPORTS FOR PEOPLE

LIVING WITH A DISABILITY

The following target areas are related to the improvement of equal opportunities for disabled persons: healthcare, education, employment, place of residence, culture and sport.

”’THE HEALTH AND ILLNESS STATUS OF AN INDIVIDUAL IS DETERMINED BY THE ATTITUDE OF THE INDIVIDUAL. HOW AN INDIVIDUAL SEES HIMSELF IS IMPORTANT. HOW YOU WILL IDENTIFY THE RESOURCES AND UTILIZE THEM IS ALSO IMPORTANT.”
(Antonovsky 1998).

We carry out our work in accordance with the International Paralympic Committee statutes and other regulations.

Participating in sports and participating in cultural activities and events is essential and promotes success later in life. Studies show that schoolchildren who play sports do better in science(Hanson és Kraus, 1998).
These studies can easily be extrapolated to persons with disabilities. The conclusion is that sports activities started early in life lead to better academic results. Individuals become better-rounded, better-paid citizens, which benefits not only the disabled person and their family, but society as a whole.

LEISURE (RECREATIONAL)

SPORT- RECREATION

We consider the promotion of recreational sports a missionary mission. Our task is also to help the implementation of sports programs dealing with leisure sports and recreation. Our task is to contribute to spreading the positive effects of exercise by supporting programs for the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
(spreading the “values” inherent in the positive effects of movement)

INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

We maintain contact with international organizations through the work of our internationally renowned master coach (also in cooperation with ELTE), sport trainings in English language, access to scientific databases, and we use the research results in our work.

COOPERATION WITH (FOR EXAMPLE) CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPEAN RECREATION SOCIETY (KERT). LIFESTYLE AND RECREATION CLUB, WHERE THOSE INTERESTED CAN ATTEND LECTURES AND SEMINARS RELATED TO A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE, FREE OF CHARGE.

Contact and joint work with civil organizations and universities boosts effectiveness. They also contribute to the wider spread of sports activities within society.

ELDERLY ATHLETES

We incorporated the experience of elderly athletes and teachers/coaches into our professional work. It is also our task to organize the due respect for the heroes of the homeland during their lifetime and after their death.
